Today's Flowers

It's time to link with Today's Flowers to enjoy flowers around the world!

The sun was bright this week when the temperatures were over 100 degrees several days. My first lilies are now blooming.
I made a background for my computer from last year's lilies and may replace it with one of these
two close ups.
I do love pink! My favorite color inside and out.
Elderberry flowers need scent sensors on the computer! They are very SWEET smelling.
Dainty pale pink and snow white achillea plants are all over in the back. I need to get rid of some as it is invasive!!

Colorado Roses

Nothing says summer like visiting my DOT and going on a garden tour! So I'm linking with The Tablescaper for Summer Sunday.

The Park Hill Garden Tour was magnificent!!
From the charming company and great driving, even when mom said left, she knew to turn right! We saw magical fairies, their houses, fountains and water features,
fabulous homes, and talked with friendly gardeners and volunteers.
June in Colorado is for roses. Everywhere we went the roses were B E A U T I F U L .
All the gardens were such a delight!
There were roses in bloom in the front yards,
the side yards,
next to the houses,
and even on the back side of the houses.
How about the one above that is two stories high with clematis growing in among the rose!!
Climbers,
higher than I can reach.
Perfect touring weather. All these gardens are protected and nothing like my fierce environment out on the open plains. This might be one advantage to city living, but I'll choose home any day!

Be sure to see what other people are doing in the summer and visit Summer Sundays! ♥♫

Flowers in June

I'm joining Today's Flowers!

Each morning finds me outside doing garden/yard work. Didn't get anything done last week when I was in class or on the road. I never do seem to want to work in the house. Park Hill garden tour tomorrow in Denver with Sarah!
The delphiniums are especially pretty right now.
When I looked at the individual flowers, I noticed the spurs in the middle.
Barbra Streisand from Weeks Roses is one bush I planted in Wally's memory. Click on the name to read more. I really believe he would have loved this one.
This is one of our Rocky Mountain penstemons . I used to have it at another house before we moved here. It really needs to be moved to a drier spot in the garden because it would spread more.
I think I was successful in spraying some weeks this morning. Next up is spraying for the grasshoppers. If you look closely there are some eating the violet leaves! There are too many to ignore, so I'm hoping the good bugs will be hiding when I start that job. Wishful thinking, I know. I do love my ladybugs, butterflies, and the occasional preying mantis.

Rebecca's Give Away

When checking out blogs this morning I discovered a new-to-me blog with a giveaway. Went to see all about it and spent a lot of time visiting Rebecca at A Gathering of Thoughts.
This is what I want to win! These two things would look great in the princess bedroom when I get to work and clean it out! There are several ways to enter, so visit and find out how to increase your chances of winning. A sweet sachet filled with lavender and the sewing machine drawer with roses painted by the talented Rebecca. She is so generous!

Today's Flowers

When I went to my mom's yesterday, her garden was full of columbines. Aquilegia (Columbine; from Latin columba "dove")
She has pure white ones.
Our state flower, blue and white.
Some with yellow and lavender.
And this last one has the colors that I remember from years ago. It used to be the only variety we had on the north side of the house and was there when my grandma moved to town.
Today's Flowers is a great site to visit and I'm linking there so you will be able to visit around the world.
I am also going to try another link today. The Tablescaper, from Long Island, New York, is having Summer Sundays and nothing says summer to me except flowers and being able to spend more time at my mom's helping her do things around the yard and house! These flowers were all from yesterday's visit.

Thanks to both blogs for a day to enjoy God's great beauty in my world. May His love, peace, and grace be with you during the coming week.

Today's Flowers

I've been working outside a lot this week. Here's our state flower-the columbine. It comes in many colors, but it's the blue and white one that is official. My dad and I took a day trip to Steamboat Springs one summer and saw many glorious patches of them blooming on the way over Rabbit Ears Pass. I've never seen anything like it again.
One of my favorite iris color combinations.
This whole area will need to be torn out and started over because of all the grass that's gotten in the flower bed the last two years.
The new rose bush with the blossoms opened and waiting for a permanent home.
The star of the week is a bulb that comes up and blooms after the daffodils, tulips, and grape hyacinths. The white flowers close up at night and open again the next day. I must have planted them once upon a time, but don't remember what the name is.
Next week will be a long one as I must earn credits for renewal of my license. At this time of budget cuts for schools in Colorado, I am fortunate that my district helps to cover the class tuition as part of my professional development! We have the best superintendent! Thank you Steve! ♥♫

Planters and Pots

Pansies.
Planters with petunias and a few other things.
So far, 36 planters and pots are filled! Now they just need time to grow and no more wind would help a lot.
Now out to the back. I'm quite sure my only disability is being O. L. D. -- as in just plain old. I'm keeping my eyes open for slithering varmits, too. I've seen several here and on the road to town, out in the Land of Blog, and even when I went to check out my brother's yard an hour away. No pictures EVER on this blog!
