Spring Chicks

My third graders and I celebrated the end of our state assessments and the last day of school before our long Easter weekend that is going to be our "spring break".
We used pinecones from my yard and some yellow fiber fill that is supposed to be used for Easter baskets. Yellow grass? Not for me, but it was suited for stuffing in between the scales. Had to look that up as I didn't know what they were called. They are so cute in person and would make an easy craft for spring. Just tuck the fluff in. Cut out a beak, and punch circles for eyes and glue them on.

Cute little peeps!

It's Melting

White and dark chocolate melting on the table top last weekend. YUM! It was a fine ending to a meal at The Melting Pot.
The snow outside--
melting only where I shoveled. Lucky me, the neighbor had to take hay to his cows and stopped on his way home and cleared the snow from my driveway with his loader. Now I have a chance at getting to school tomorrow.

Chocolate is calling... going to have some before I go try to get out the back door. Snow blew off the roof and drifted there, too. I'll be happy to stop posting about snow!

Teaching

I do believe this has some truth to it. From Steve Spangler's FB.
Just thought I'd share on this blowy, snowy morning. Can't see out the patio doors as they are covered with snow that is blowing off the roof in the back. Wind is really picking up and will be drifting. Hope I can dig out with my shovel when the storm passes on to the east. Perfect spring break week weather--IF we were having a break this year. We're NOT. I do not count a Friday and a Monday a break--but we do finish school on May 16 to make up for this lack in our calendar this year. My goal is to be ready to check out EARLY on the 17th for the last time ever! I have retire"itis"--can't wait!!

PS--Why do my last three posts have SNOW in their labels!!?
OH--I live in Colorado!

Duvet of White

The short spears of green that were seen last Friday were covered by another blanket of snow this past Saturday.
AGAIN.
The good thing was that the early snow melted as it fell.
And the wind wasn't as fierce as  predicted so no shoveling needed this go-round!
I turned to come in and looked again and saw this heart. It made me smile as hearts are my "thing" around here.

One of these days I will be out cleaning the flower beds that have been protected by all the brown leaves. Until then, I'll be keeping warm with my own quilts because who knows when spring will come to eastern Colorado?
