Cutie

from www.zooborns.com

I needed a cute picture for my tired body. Last night the fire trucks, Flight for Life Helicopter, coyotes, and a crying raccoon limited my sleep. An accident back towards the west started a car fire, then burned the tumbleweeds around some juniper trees. The trees were very close to the neighbor's house and it burned, too. So sad... . Please pray for the families of all involved.

Weather 'Button'

Although today was sunny and very warm (75 degrees), this cloudy view from our driveway just seemed to be a good picture to include today as I added the current temperature to my side area. I finally got the code on and working. Sometimes I think the computer just makes things up to see if I will stick with it long enough to make something work.

Time to quit since it took me so long to figure out the newest addition. I hope blog guests will enjoy seeing the temperatures from my part of the world. Colorado has such diverse areas that visitors are often surprised at the wide open places we have out here on the plains. Look at the picture again. Our neighbors to the east are about a quarter of a mile away, but others are more than a mile away.

BooBoo's Friend

BooBoo's friend, the raccoon, was sleeping on the front step yesterday as we were about to leave for church. He was just like a kitten, curled up and sound asleep. VERY CUTE!! If the little guy wouldn't tear up my flower gardens, he could live around here. But, my memories of a raccoon my brother tried to tame when we were kids, are not those of one being a good pet. Didn't see him yesterday afternoon when we got back from meeting Sarah for lunch, this morning or after school. I hope he has wandered back to where he came from.

John 11:25-27

Free Myspace Comments

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

"Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."

Big Black Dog

newf in the grass

Remember Mother Goose? Think Baa,Baa Black Sheep.
"Woof.Woof. Black Dog,
Have you any fur?"
"Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Three bags full!"

Grooming BooBoo, our Newfie, is quite a fur-flying activity. We worked on him this afternoon because he is INSIDE the house. He's had issues with a raccoon that spent the last two nights in his dog house. BooBoo was not happy and barked all night long, which makes me cranky because I cannot sleep with that much noise. This morning the pesky raccoon was at the back door, and so was Mister Big Black Dog. To separate the two in hopes that the raccoon would move along, I invited BooBoo into the house and he LIKES it in here!! He doesn't want to go out into the yard! Have we created a monster?! No house is large enough for a Newfoundland. He can't even turn around in the hall, and our hallway is a comfortable width-a wheelchair can be maneuvered down it! (I borrowed a picture because Sarah has the camera. This dog looked most like mine and the pasture looks like home, too.)

Pink Carnations

Sarah and Wally brought these pretty carnations home last weekend for us to enjoy. The flowers were getting so heavy I had to trim the stems shorter and shorter to keep them upright. They ended up in this pretty vase that I got one summer at the "upscale" thrift shop in Estes Park. The woman at the shop commented on the "cut crystal", but I wasn't fooled and really didn't care that it is only pressed glass. I just loved the shape and the heavy bottom so it won't tip over. I seem to have quite a growing collection of glass items!

Easter Cactus

I thought I read somewhere that there are two kinds of cactus--the Christmas cactus and the Easter cactus. I must have the Easter variety because I took this picture yesterday. Yes!! I took the picture. Sarah did put it in my files, I must admit! But, I found it today and added it all by myself.

HE LIVES!

We all had a wonderful day celebrating Easter. Dinner was at our house and family and friends came to enjoy food and fellowship.

Sarah was out in the yard and took some pictures of our early spring flowers. There are daffodils and miniature iris among the tumbleweeds which have blown in and back out again. We have hedges on the way to our house-not the pretty green ones as in England, but brown ones (tumbleweeds caught on the fence wires). They go this way and that way depending on the wind!

The weather today was cloudy, cool, and misting rain most of the day. It left everything damp and fresh smelling.

Good Friday

Violets are my favorite spring flower, so I thought this card from The Graphics Fairy would make a lovely picture this Good Friday evening. I had to save it to a folder and open it, instead of the way I used to do it. Somehow, I'm thinking the "old" way might have been easier and faster. But, I guess that "life long learner" part of our mission statement at school is true for me, as well.

Spring Conference

I'm getting cranky here. I used to know how to get an image into the post, but it seems there are some new commands that I am unaware of! I also feel like I'm getting this flu bug that's gone around school and the family. On Thursday there is a spring reading conference K-3 staff is attending and we're leaving tomorrow right after school to go to Colorado Springs! It may be our last big event with Reading First because funding is uncertain for the future... . And, we are having supper (farm girl talk for "dinner") at The Melting Pot. I've never been there and it seems like it should be a lot of fun.

NEW COMPUTER!!

Glitter Graphics

It was Wally's birthday yesterday and HE got a new computer from his family--sisters and parents. He had shared that someone who was to remain nameless (me!!) ruined Sarah's old laptop. They got this fabulous HP for his B-day and to say thanks for all that he does for his dear mom and dad. He was speechless ( a VERY unusual occourance! =) and I am so lucky to be able to share this huge gift!! It wasn't going to be in our budget for a VERY long time. WOW! I lost all my bookmarks, so I will have to hunt for the free clip art sites again.
