A Letter

Dear Mother Nature,

This morning on the way to school the road was covered with ice and snow AGAIN. My drive isn't as long as some, but it is getting very tiresome to be doing this in the middle of April. Also, it was only 9 degrees! Yes, I know it was warmer than last Thursday, but only by 6 degrees. (My kinder kids can do the math and know it was 3 degrees last week).
When I pulled up to park there were about 6-9 robins huddled in the snow by this downspout. Usually there are only 2 -3 in a group so it was an amazing sight. They looked like this bird below and am sorry to say that I didn't catch them with my camera/phone and had to search on line for this one.
So, I'm wondering if we could have some warm, sunny days for the final four weeks of school? I'd be more than happy to dig out some spring clothes instead of shoveling snow!

P.S. Could you also do something about the wind that is creating the snowdrifts across the road? There will be more ice in the morning. Pretty please?

P.P.S.
I love the moisture, but could you start sending it in liquid form?

Special Delivery

Some days I go out to the mailbox and find something has been delivered. Last week I saw a rather soft and puffy envelope from Doni at Faith, Grace, and Crafts.
This package is what came out of the envelope. In her post she shared a piece of her art work that she created with some of her collections. Then, with some of the "leftovers"--laces and trims, buttons and ribbon--she made up a give away! My name was selected as the winner.
What a treasure I received!!
I counted 38 pieces and that is not including the buttons, the pin cushion or the miniature cards with Bible verses on them.
Isn't it wonderful? I know I will eventually be using every bit someday (in my retirement) to try and make something similar to Doni's piece, but for now, I'm thinking the joy is coming from the eye candy value.

This is part of Doni's lovely work. You will find her post if you click on the picture or her name.
Please go enjoy the beauty!
Doni, thank you so much!

Scilla Siberica

It's official!
Mother Nature declares that
SPRING has come to my garden!

These tiny blue flowers are always the first to pop up and bloom. They don't care if the debris hasn't been cleaned out of their flower bed. They just want to make me happy!   :x

Retirement Planning

The REAL count down to the end of school is underway. It actually started in January, and then I lost track, and have started over several times. I have never really counted days as my students and I always had things to do. But, RETIREMENT is coming!!
One of the things I am thinking about doing (when school is not my priority) is creating jewelry. I asked Sarah to send me a picture of her necklace that I made for her wedding as I couldn't remember the details of it. I'm going through my huge Fire Mountain catalog looking for my favorites--Swarovski crystals and their pearls. The Swarovski pearls have crystal cores and are beautiful and affordable.

Other plans include the GARDEN. It's windy and getting warmer, but yesterday was a better day. Where was I? At school. So it's off to the yard for a little cleaning. :)

April Garden

Easter Sunday was absolutely amazing!
Warm enough to melt the very last of my snow banks.
With the warm air,
the fairies could come out to play.
They are as impatient as I am!
We want to play in the garden!
While my favorite peeps were here we stopped by the local garden center, Edward's, for some of the secret ingredient that I add to my flower pots. Alex kindly acted as my muscle man and put the bags in the car and unloaded them. We are waiting for warmer weather coming this next weekend because it has turned cold and cloudy again.
