Distinguished and Recognized!

Wiggins Elementary was notified we were honored as a Title I distinguished school this past November!! Only two schools in our state, out of around 600, were chosen for this honor. We are the Category 1 winner because of exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years. We were told there used to be a monetary gift with this award, but no longer given due to budget cuts.

At a meeting after school we had a visit from the "State" and were congratulated and presented with $10,000 for our school! How cool is that?!!!!

You are able to read about our school at this link to the National Title I site.

House Work

Sarah told me I should post something so people wouldn't think I had died. This month has been a busy one so far with little time for pictures and writing. My dear FIL, 90 years young, decided to sell the house that he and sweet MIL have lived in since they sold the farm. I helped by cleaning carpets. Let me say I was very tired those nights!!

Then my SIL (the college friend that introduced me to her brother, my late husband) and I moved some furniture around to make the rooms look "bigger" for the realtor to take pictures for the listing brochure. I really think people are smart enough to figure out what size a room is without fooling them, but then I'm not an agent!
We also had some fun after all the cleaning by switching things around, as in "staging" for the buyer.

Like the bedspreads, knick-knacks, and moving furniture.
We even moved things into hiding, like all the clutter on the counters. AND, the wastebaskets!
All I can say is when I need to sell my house, I need a two year warning to get things looking this good!
This does not even show any of the painting and garage cleaning that was also taken care of without my help. My time and efforts were just a small part in making Grandma and Grandpa's house look amazing. Some family will be very blessed to make this their new home.

Barn Quilts

Going down streets and country roads and keeping an eye open for Barn Quilts is fun.
When friend and I were in town earlier this week she spotted this new block on a home that had recently been remodeled. The ivory, green, and  wine colors were very striking on the new stucco.
The other one is out on Road R west of town on a road I seldom use. There is another one I need to take a picture of when the sun is higher in the sky. I still have a goal of discovering more of this building art in Morgan County.

Tea Tidings

Glad tidings to you and your kin.
Christmas came.
So did 2013.

This was opened on Christmas morning.
We have always waited until morning
at our house. From the time I was a
little girl, we waited.
I first thought it was going to be a special kind of tea inside...

except, it is from

"time to share a spot of cheer from london"
Lemon Cream body lotion,
Wild Berry Jam lip shine.
The two have recipes which I shall post on my recipe blog.

Sarah can find the best presents!
And, I'm sure Alex helps!
Thank you dollie~someday we need to travel to London and visit the places your daddy and I went to years ago.
