From Yellow Beach Dog!

This package came in the mail last weekend. Inside was this lovely, lovely book!! I won it from Yellow Beach Dog.
I want to have a party when Wally comes home from the hospital. He's been fighting an infection, besides the complications from surgery that included a blood clot in his lung, the pneumonia, and his depression. This book will give me inspiration and it really lifted my sinking spirits! Thanks, MJ!

Now why is it that I loaded these pictures in reverse order so that they would come out like I wanted with the package first? I don't understand how this works and so many people have lots of pictures on a post. I usually only post one picture at a time as I am easily frustrated when I don't know all the shortcuts. So if anyone has a clue, please share it with me.

Sunday Morning

Weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

It's been a while since I've posted because Wally is still in the hospital. A week ago he had to have his stitches opened and his abdomen washed out, not once, but two days in a row. He had an infection and swelling that was causing the extreme pain. We found out he has a pseudomonas bacterial infection and is in isolation so we must put on gowns, gloves, and a mask when visiting him.

Needless to say, he is discouraged and I am tending to feel the same way.

The pink rose (pictured above) is one we got for Wally's father's day two summers ago. It's as if it knows he's not at home because in June it was NOT blooming and had buds that withered and dried up. It is now starting to bloom and I am taking that as a sign that recovery is coming.

SWEET PRAISES

Buster (Sarah's dog) is missing Wally and Sarah and waiting patiently for them to come home.

Who would think that answering a phone or sitting up in a chair for two hours would be so sweet? That is what Wally did yesterday! He even asked for his glasses for the first time since June 2. He did have a good day, which means so did I!

Buster and I dropped Sarah off at DIA this morning so she could fly to Vermont to pick up her client that she cares for. Sarah took Alli to camp and now it is time for her to fly back home. Alli is in a wheel chair and has an assisted communication device so she can talk. The two of them get along quite well and even went on a road trip to Atlanta a year ago spring.

Now I am ready for some real sleep and then I must mow lawn later if it doesn't storm. And take a picture of Sarah's great find at GW last night and share that later.

Complications

These flowers are reminders of God's love and beauty everytime I go outside to do something.
They are also something that keeps my brain happy and busy after I come home from the hospital.

Grrr...Wally has 2 blood clots, pneumonia, and his stomach and small intestines are not working! All complications from surgery. Wouldn't you know that pain killers slow down the digestive system, it's one of the side effects! I've stayed overnight several times with him and get very little sleep. Today I am home trying to wash and fold 3 loads of laundry and get the lawn watered, now that it is hot. We have great friends and neighbors who have offered all kinds of help and prayers! And our minister keeps us in his prayers, too.

Wally's surgery went well. There was just enough undamaged colon left to attach the small intestine to and that will make life easier after he heals. What a blessing! His pain now is from the surgery and will go away over the next week or so. Then he will be able to come home!! And I will be cooking anything he wants to have...even liver (yuk). I haven't made anything for him to eat for over a month. We'll have to see what his body will be able to digest.

Oops, I guess I just shared these lilies a few days ago. Although now more buds have opened and they just seemed to be lifting their faces to sing praises.

I am really focusing on this because of the seriousness of Wally's colitis. He goes to surgery tomorrow morning to remove the large intestine and possibly some of his small intestine.

Eye Candy

I just couldn't pass up the chance to show off the white and pink lilies one more time.
This clump of day lilies has needed to be split for several years. I did dig up another large clump and give it to my brother for his new gardens when he built his house. His clump was split into enough plants to go about half way across his house.
I guess I was mistaken earlier when I said the flax were my only blue flowers. I forgot about these delphiniums!
A poor picture, but I included it anyway. Makes me think of England with the gray sky. The hook will have a hummingbird feeder on it later.

Lilies

When I was out starting the water this morning, these deep pink lilies were facing the sun and looking so pretty.
They look so nice before the bugs start having lunch. But I did notice the grasshoppers are here in force and will need to take care them by dusting.
This pale yellow daylily is just starting to bloom. I do like this yellow better than the Stella d' Oro which is so orange.

I'm leaving later to go to the hospital again to visit with the surgeon. Wally must have tests on his heart to see if it's strong enough for surgery.

Pink and lavendar

I love these small petunias. They are Rambling Peach from Dunker's in Brush. They have a gorgeous sheen to the petals that are PINK, not peach. As the summer goes on, they get bushier and have lots more blossoms!


This bunch of lovely lilies is almost the end of this variety for this season. Usually they are not packed together as they are here. Aren't they pretty, though? They bloom early in June and survived the rain, wind and hail we had last month.

My delphiniums this year have been standing tall all through June. The newest one is lavendar, a color I've not seen before. It's another one from the FFA greenhouse at school.

I need to call the hospital to see how Wally is doing, Yep, my poor guy is back in the hospital for the third time this summer. I took him to the ER a week ago and he was dismissed late Sunday afternoon. I took him back again on Monday night because he was weaker and still in extraordinary pain. The colon has not quit cramping and may need to be removed. Prayers for Mr. TG would be appreciated.
