Distinguished and Recognized!
Wiggins Elementary was notified we were honored as a Title I distinguished school this past November!! Only two schools in our state, out of around 600, were chosen for this honor. We are the Category 1 winner because of exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years. We were told there used to be a monetary gift with this award, but no longer given due to budget cuts.
At a meeting after school we had a visit from the "State" and were congratulated and presented with $10,000 for our school! How cool is that?!!!!

congratulations to you and your school! I too work for the public school system in Colorado so I know what it means to be honored that way and the money....the money! I'm sure it will be used in some way to continue to help the kids grow!
Oh, how wonderful!! Wiggins school district really does rock - I'm amazed at some of the graduate's accomplishments. I'm sure the money will be put to good use. Congratulations. Sally

Congratulations, it's nice to see schools that are doing so well.
What a sweet surprise!! I have the feeling that this is the kind of school that although loves the money, would do just as your are doing with out it!
